3.) BIOS Lock needs a supervisor/user password to access BIOS setup. BIOS settings can be configured to prompt for password at every first bootup or all bootup sequences. Access to BIOS setup is needed to configure Hard Disk Lock. Hard Disk Lock requires an access key to retrieve data on the hard disk. This is a Data Confidentiality security feature. LifeBook Lock requires a supervisor/user password to bootup the LifeBook when it powers up or resumes last session from suspend/hibernate mode. This is an anti-theft feature with more than 800,000 password combinations using the buttons on the Quick Launch Panel. Anti-theft Lock Slot allows the use of a lock to physically secure the LifeBook. Smartcard slot usage is dependent on customer's solution. Fingerprint sensor uses AuthenTec TruePrint™ Technology and Softex OmniPass to remember customer list of user IDs and passwords. Full security unlock sequence - LifeBook Lock, Bootup Lock (BIOS Lock), Hard Disk Lock, Fingerprint Windows Logon. NOTE: Loss of password requires the LifeBook to be returned to Japan factory for system refresh. Cost of shipment and lost data will be borne by the customer. Backup your user's profile before changing HDD. Without the user's profile associated with a document at the point of encryption, Softex OmniPass cannot decrypt the encrypted document.
4.) Battery life estimates reflect the results of BAPCo MobileMark2007 Productivity Workloads performed upon systems with battery life setting enabled on Windows Vista® operating systems. Actual battery life will vary based on screen brightness, applications used, features selected, power management settings, battery conditioning, and other customer preferences. DVD/CD-RW, DVD Writer, LAN, wireless LAN or hard drive usage may also have a significant impact on battery life.

Fujitsu Utility Menu
The Fujitsu Menu is designed to be user-friendly and intuitive. Pressing the Fn (Function) button twice, or clicking from the taskbar, will bring up the floating utility from which you have one-tap access to almost any setting imaginable for your LifeBook® Tablet PC including brightness control, tablet and pen settings, Fujitsu Display Controls, power options, and more. Atheros XSPAN® Wireless LAN
This LifeBook® notebook offers Atheros XSPAN® Wireless LAN (802.11a/b/g/draft-n) technology. The Wireless LAN delivers the best connectivity and performance and is backward-compatible with the 802.11b standard. XSPAN® lets you browse the Internet at a fast transfer rate of up to 108 Mbps when connecting with a XSPAN®-enabled base station or router.

LifeBook® U820 Mini-NotebookBluetooth Wireless
The optional integrated Bluetooth feature provides wireless connectivity for wireless devices at close proximity. For example, Bluetooth can be used to wirelessly transfer/ synchronize data to and from different devices such as PDAs and cellular phones. It also communicates with peripherals such as mice, keyboards, and printers wirelessly, minimizing the constraints and clutter of cables.

The typical transfer distance for a Bluetooth device is up to 30 feet. Designed to take advantage of a typical workspace or PAN (Personal Area Network), the purpose of Bluetooth is to simplify the exchange of information and interfacing of devices within a close proximity. When considering Bluetooth devices keep in mind that the system as well as the individual devices must support Bluetooth.

USB 2.0
This technology lets you easily connect your notebook to digital peripherals. This version is 40 times faster than its predecessor version USB 1.1, and is downward compatible. USB 1.1 is appropriate for devices such as keyboards and joysticks, but if you have data-intensive devices such as external hard drives or external optical drives, USB 2.0 is the preferred interface.

Biometrics
The biometric fingerprint sensor along with OmniPass software from Softex Inc., allows user authentication and password management for all Web sites and system log-ins.

OmniPass software enables you to manage your passwords with an easy to use Windows-based application. With OmniPass, a user can "replace" all other passwords with one master password or his/her fingerprint. The first time a password-secured website or application is used, the user simply enters the original password and then tells OmniPass to "remember that password". From that point forward, anytime that website or application is used, OmniPass will prompt the user to swipe the finger or enter the user's master password and access to that site or application is automatically granted.

Computrace BIOS-enabled models
Integrated Computrace® BIOS tracking agent from Absolute Software embedded in the BIOS firmware is designed to provide innovative theft recovery solutions with optional Computrace software. Employing Computrace software solutions allows organizations to efficiently monitor system use, recover stolen or missing machines, and remotely delete data, if necessary. Computrace software solutions also provides the added value of proactively enforcing computer data security policies across the entire organization, increasing both end-user and administrator productivity.

The docking cradle allows you to easily attach/detach your notebook to non-portable devices, such as monitors, printers, USB DVD+/-RW optical drives, and scanners. There is no more hassle to disconnect and re-connect these devices whenever you need to use your notebook away from your desk.

The expansion ports on this cradle include four USB 2.0 ports, an external VGA port, and an Ethernet LAN port. The docking cradle is small and lightweight, easy to use, and offers great expandability. You can even carry it with you on the road. We suggest getting one for the office and one for the home.
