Remote, Multi-Admin Management
Multiple administrators can login and manage your network at the same time, using
just a web browser.
Sophisticated Map View
Drag and drop your nodes onto a detailed geographical map. Meraki uses Google Maps,
so your maps are constantly up to date. Map and satellite views are available.
Real-time Network Visualization
View the routes between your nodes and users currently on the network. Quickly see
nodes’ uptime state, enabling you to identify trouble spots quickly. Drill down
on specific nodes to get more detailed data. Troubleshoot problems by testing to
see whether nodes are alive. Run real-time latency and bandwidth tests from a node
to the gateway to determine the quality of the connection.
Automatic Alerts
Receive an email when there is a significant network event, such as a node going
offline, a gateway connection failing, or nodes coming back online. Since the management
system is hosted, you don’t need to worry about software updates and patches. In
addition, Meraki provides automatic, over-the-air firmware upgrades to your access
points in the field.
Historical Reporting
Get detailed reports on your network’s performance, uptime, and usage. Sort data
by user, device, and other factors. Visualize data with graphs and reports. Identify
nodes with intermittent connections that need attention. Export statistics and usage
to XML for analysis in Excel or other data processing applications.
Security and Access Control
Security Protocols
Meraki supports industry-standard WEP and WPA encryption and authorization protocols.
Access Control
You can manage access your network in a number of ways, including by username, MAC
address, or WPA key.
Bandwidth Shaping
Meraki systems include an integrated bandwidth shaping engine. You can set upload
and download limits for different groups of users. Unlike most bandwidth shaping
tools, which require all traffic to be routed through a central location, Meraki’s
system is distributed at the edge of the network. You get improved performance and
the ability to use heterogeneous backhaul connections.
Multiple SSIDs
Create multiple SSIDs for multiple tiers of service. For example, use one for private
access and one for guest or public access.
Secure Guest Access
Meraki gives you everything you need to easily and cost-effectively offer wireless
network access to your guests and visitors. Your guest network can be a stand-alone
network or another virtual network (with a separate SSID) on your existing Meraki
network. Guest access speeds can be limited to ensure fair access in high-traffic
areas. With Captive Portal select the first page that users see, and customize it
based on a number of pre-defined templates or using your own custom HTML. No complex
re-routing system required.
One-Click Billing
All you need to do is set your price plans and Meraki handles the rest. Our system
creates the captive portal and billing pages, while also handling the credit card
processing (so there’s no need for you to setup a separate Merchant account). At
the end of each month we send you a PayPal payment based on your previous month’s
earnings, less Meraki’s share.
Multiple Tiers and Rate Plans
Meraki Billing allows you to offer multiple tiers of service and different rate
plans. For example, you can offer access by the hour, day, week, or month. You can
also offer different upload and download speeds. Our system allows you to offer
potential customers free, time-limited trials.
Scalability and Availability
Advanced Features With Meraki’s wired network extension, you can form a wireless-to-wired
bridge, and add a switch to your device. Mesh over wire allows a mesh hop without
performance degradation. Each router runs a powerful traffic management and shaping
engine, which is controlled by the hosted management system.
Redundant Backhaul
Meraki’s mesh system allows you to have multiple gateways from different vendors.
This means you can use any combination of DSL, T1, etc. Your network stays up even
if one of your backhaul providers suffers an outage.
Stand-alone mode
Should your network ever be unable to communicate with Meraki’s Data Centers, your
network will continue to provide basic service to your customers. Network management
and user authorization capability resume automatically as soon as the connection
is restored.
Zero Configuration
Meraki mesh works out of the box. There’s no complex configuration needed. Dashboard
was built with mesh in mind. All our tools, reports, and monitoring are mesh-aware.
Daisy chain multiple Meraki radios together to build long distance links.
