Features & Benefits
Lets Users
Connect Securely to
the Wireless LAN and
Roam
The AP2750 utilizes
standards-based
integration with the
Wireless LAN switch
and/or controller
for plug-and-play
installation.
Configuration
details for all MAPs
are centrally
distributed for
consistency and
accuracy resulting
in simplified
initial deployments
and easier
management.
Automated network
controls at the
wireless switch
improve MAP coverage
and service by
optimizing RF gain,
assigning radio
channels, load
balancing and even
sweeping the RF
environment as
required, either
continuously or
on-demand.
MAP encryption
provides for local
traffic encryption,
and distributes
encryption
processing across
the network, rather
than relying on one
central device. RF
scans can be used
not only to locate
users, but also to
identify and isolate
potentially harmful
rogue APs or other
infiltrators.
Allowing network
wiring flexibility,
the AP2750 can be
linked directly or
indirectly to a 3Com
Wireless LAN Switch
or Controller
through existing
wired networks, even
across Layer 3
boundaries.
Additionally, the
AP2750 can receive
its power via
standard PoE (Power
over Ethernet)
either directly from
a Wireless LAN
Switch or from any
802.11af compliant
PoE device.
- Supports
802.11 a or b/g
for speeds up to
54 Mbps at
distances up to
100 meters (328
feet) for
802.11b/g users,
50 meters or
(164 feet) for
802.11a users
- Dual-mode
radio allows
operation for
802.11a or
802.11b/g and is
software
configurable
from the 3Com
Wireless Switch
Manager
- Each AP2750
can handle
multiple
BSSID/SSIDs to
appear as
multiple access
points
- Supports
802.3af-compatible
Power over
Ethernet (PoE),
so data and
power are
supplied over
the same
Ethernet cable
eliminating the
need for power
adapters, power
cords or AC
outlets
- Dual-mode
802.11a and
802.11b/g
antennas provide
excellent
performance and
coverage in high
multi-path
environments and
supports a
variety of
external
dual-mode
antennas for
flexible
installation
options
- Performs
packet
encryption over
the air for
dynamic WEP,
TKIP, and AES
- Allows
independently
encrypted and
isolated subnets
or VLANs while
using the same
SSID
- RF
multi-band sweep
allows any
AP2750 can scan
the RF
environment for
both 802.11a and
802.11b/g rogue
access points,
ad-hoc users, or
other RF
interferers
- Requires no
pre-staging or
pre-configuration
of access points
so new or
replacement MAPs
inherit
configuration
information from
the wireless LAN
switch or
controller
- Allows MAPs
to be directly
and/or
indirectly
connected to
their managing
wireless LAN
switch and/or
controller
allowing a wide
variety of
flexible
deployment
scenarios
- Optimizes RF
cell size and
support
international
requirements
with automated
transmit power
and radio
channel
assignment
- Provides
comprehensive
MAP control and
management as
MAPs are not
operational in
stand alone
mode. All
Attributes such
as channel
number, power
level, SSIDs,
and security
settings are all
handled by the
wireless LAN
switch or
controller for
additional
security
